I intend to put poetry in
unusual places and spaces.

Aspiring and professional writers as well as all types of creatives and those who need a nurturing space to be artistic can join Founder/Director Catrina Sparkman.  In addition, it is a welcoming and safe space for women artists of every ethnicity.  Poet Fabu is a professional member of the Creator’s Cottage and serves as a consultant/advisor.

Creator’s Cottage

The mission of the APP is to improve the quality of life of people living with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementia by facilitating creative expression through poetry. During COVID, we took APP to the phones and in 2023 Gary created Poetry on Wheels (POW) to allow older adults who live at home and in facilities, the ability to experience poetry by telephone with professional poets.

The Alzheimer’s Poetry Project

Successful collaboration with Gary Glazner for over a decade with the Alzheimer’s Poetry Project. Fabu serves as the Wisconsin director and has worked with African American old adults to bring poetry directly to their homes in person and via phone. Pre-covid, our yearly events ended with a Alzheimer’s Poetry Party that invited participants and the community to hear their original poetry, enjoy food and share in the joy of poetry.
