Good Food for the Soul: Farmer Robert Pierce and Chef Ruthie Allen share the roles food and farming play in Madison’s African American community, past and present. The event includes famous Black love songs, soul food from Chef Ruthie and a chocolate tasting from CocoVaa Chocolatier. 6pm-7:30pm
2/16 Fabu reads with other poets at the Winter Festival of Poets, Common Ground, 2644 Branch Street, Middleton, Wisconsin
2/20 Tribute to Our Elders: Speak and Song This is a tribute to Wisconsin Community Activist, Joe McClain, and our elders. Joe McClain testimonials are welcomed. Precious Memories Choir, a choir made up of people with memory loss, their caregivers, family and friends, will sing. A Soul food meal is offered. 6pm-7:30pm
2/27 African American History in Madison: Come enjoy local history buffs Pia Kinney James, Char Braxton and Edith Lawrence Hilliard pay tribute to their families in Madison through a discussion of Madison past, present and future. There will also be a Soul food. 6pm-7:30pm
All Month Black History Month at the Goodman South Madison Library: 2222 South Park St., Madison, for the entire month of February. The Exhibit, food receptions and all events are free to all.
