Welcome to My New Site!
Welcome 2024 and to my revised website. Appreciation to Bradley Thomas from DLO Vision Media for his creative work in realizing my vision. I am more excited about this year because I am thrilled that lessons learned last year will be transformed into new projects; my culture columns, narrative poetry and a brand new creative outlet called Memory Collectors where I join community women in writing our memoirs and quilting at The Creator’s Cottage.
I am currently working on another poetry collection, entitled We are Wisconsin, which will be my ninth book and, in my estimation, one of my best. We are Wisconsin reflects all the years I lived, learned and loved in this state, as a student, poet, parent, community advocate and as a transplanted Wisconsinite. I write about African Americans, their fascinating connections to the history and culture of this state. I honor the original landowners, Indigenous people, and appreciate recent workers in Wisconsin both Spanish speaking Americans and Asians, particularly the Hmong. The descendants of Europeans settlers, modern day folks in Wisconsin are highlighted. All of these nationalities are the neighbors they have always been in the Midwest. Look for it for my book launch in 2024.
